By-Products Utilization
One by-product of prawn farming is sludge. Rather than treating this as
waste, we will pipe it to the neighboring biogas producer. The heat from the
biogas production process will be piped to us and constitutes an important
energy source for heating our farming water. Beautiful circularity!
Zero Waste Goal
We are committed to achieving zero waste by finding innovative uses for all by-products. For example, prawn shells can be processed to extract chitosan, a valuable compound used in pharmaceuticals and agriculture.
Nutrient Recycling
The nutrients from our prawn waste are recycled back into the system, promoting a healthy and productive aquaculture environment. This helps to close the loop in our production process and ensures that nothing goes to waste.
